On 8 and 9.10.24, the closing event of the funding measure Water Technologies: Reuse (WavEII) in Frankfurt, the results of the joint project innovatION were presented in a presentation and 3 posters. Participants were also able to see the electrodes and selective ion exchange membranes on a laboratory scale. After 3.5 years of research and development, a monovalent selective membrane-supported capacitive deionization was created, which was tested on Langeoog and in Nienburg for the partial desalination of groundwater. The innovative technology requires very little energy for partial desalination, especially for low salt concentrations. Despite the positive response, there is still a need for further research in the future, particularly in the optimization of materials and cell construction.
In addition, the fact sheet on
(membrane) capacitive deionization processes was presented at the
closing event, which compares the different CDI processes with each other based
